yes! i was actually referencing muqarnas when speaking about the clay! morocco's carved clay and plaster muqarnas are famous for their intricacy and detailed fretting!

Reference sheet of a monster character with a rove beetle-like body and a human face. The main illustration shows a back view with one wing out and all six limbs spread. His chitinous plates are dark green but highly iridescent with oil-slick pink and orange highlights. The back of the pronotum (thorax plate) has a pair of large eye spots. The elytra (hardened forewings) do not extend to cover the long tail leaving several pale green segments exposed, with another set of plates at the tip with spikes and horns. The first two limbs have relatively humanlike hands. The character has a long neck and long straight dark green hair and is peering around at the viewer. There are two portraits in the upper corners showing a close up of the facial features; he has large round eyes with many iris rings and a set of palps and mandibles that open out to reveal sharp cutting surfaces. He has symmetrical pits by his eyebrows and below his tear ducts from which thin antennae can emerge. Text on the image reads "Rove. Convict unperson. No details carried over from old life" as well as anatomical labels pointing out the various insect body parts.
